Hope Shines For Shannon
According to Adam Rubin, Mets media relations staffer Shannon Forde has been diagnosed with Stage 4 breast cancer. There will be a fundraiser and autograph session on November 1st at the Westmount Country Club in Woodland Park, NJ.
The name of this benefit is “Hope Shines for Shannon.” Shannon is 41 years old and was diagnosed on August 2, 2012 with stage IV breast cancer that has metastasized to her lymph nodes and bones. She has begun treatment, but still works full-time while juggling a family. Shannon is a Jersey Girl, living in Bergen County with her husband, John and two children, Nicholas (4) and Kendall (2).

The “Meet And Greet” fundraiser includes an autograph session and photograph with past Mets players. Those scheduled to appear are Darryl Strawberry, Dwight Gooden, John Franco, Bobby Ojeda, Edgardo Alfonzo, Al Leiter, Ed Charles, Ed Kranepool. Also appearing will be two-time Super Bowl champion Sean Landeta of the New York Football Giants.
