For those of you who don’t know, Jose Reyes still lives on Long Island. In fact, he will be training locally with Ruben Tejada this winter. Reyes lives just minutes from the Nassau Coliseum (the soon to be former home of my New York Islanders) and he was in attendance there last night when the Knicks took on the Nets in the final preseason game for both teams - Reyes has publicly stated he is a Knicks fan and is friends with Carmelo Anthony. During the game, Reyes was shown on the Jumbotron at the Coliseum and was booed by the crowd. He then had this to say to an ESPN New York reporter, “It’s okay. Every time I came to Citi Field this year, they booed me.” Reyes then added he would love to play next to Alex Rodriguez in Miami.
He also weighed in on Wright’s contract negotiations, “They should sign David. He’s been the face of the franchise for a long time… If they let him go, that’s gonna be difficult to see the New York Mets without David Wright. I can’t imagine that.”
