Gold Glove Award Finalists

David Wright has been announced as a finalist for the National League Gold Glove Award at third base for the 2012 season. The other two finalists are San Diego Padres’ Chase Headley and Milwaukee Brewers’ Aramis Ramirez. The award winner will be announced tomorrow night at 9:00pm and will be aired on ESPN2.

In 155 games played at third base this season, Wright had a .974 fielding-percentage. He committed 10 errors in 384 chances and accounted for 16 defensive runs saved.

Headley played 159 games at third base this season. His fielding-percentage was slightly above Wright’s at .976. Headley also committed 10 errors this season; however that came in 425 chances - 41 more than Wright had. He also had a minus-3 defensive runs saved.

Ramirez had the highest fielding-percentage of all three with a .977 in his 143 games played at third base. Ramirez had 4 defensive runs saved which can be attributed to only committing 7 errors; but he only faced 300 chances – the lowest of all three finalists.
