National Pi Day!!!

Today is March 14th – that means its National Pi (or Pie) Day. In math, Pi equals roughly 3.14 – which is the ratio of a circle’s circumference to its diameter (math teachers everywhere rejoice with the possibility of being the “cool” teacher for the day). So today go out and have a slice of apple pie, blueberry pie, or pizza pie…whatever your heart desires. In the mean time, here are the “pies” that have played for the Mets (both of the math and culinary type):

Kevin Appier – SP (2001)

Nino Espinosa – SP (1974 – 1978)

Alvaro Espinoza – 3B (1996)

Jeff Keppinger – 2B (2004)

Mike Piazza – C (1998 – 2005)

Jimmy Piersall – OF (1963)

Joe Pignatano – C (1962)

Bill Spiers – INF (1995)

Jordany Valdespin – INF/OF (2012)
